We make furniture, not data products. The information you give us exists for one purpose, getting a heavy, handmade piece of solid wood from our Jodhpur workshop to your doorstep and looking after you afterwards and this page explains exactly what we collect, why, who touches it along the way and what you can ask of us. It is written in plain language on purpose, because a privacy policy you cannot understand protects no one.

This policy covers foishome.com and every order placed through it. We deliver within India only and this policy is written for our Indian customers under Indian law, including the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

What We Collect and Why?

When you place an order. Your name, delivery address, phone number and email address. There is no way around these, a freight truck needs an address, a delivery crew needs a phone number that answers and your order confirmation needs somewhere to land. We also keep a record of what you ordered, because warranty questions and spare-part requests arrive years later and the order history is how we help you when they do.

When you pay. Your payment is processed by our payment gateway partners, not by us. Card numbers, UPI credentials and banking details go directly to the gateway over encrypted connections and we never see or store your full card or banking information. What we receive back is confirmation that payment happened, the amount and a transaction reference.

When you create an account. Your login email and the password you choose, stored in encrypted form by the platform. An account is optional, guest checkout works fine.

When you browse. Like nearly every online store, our site runs on Shopify and uses cookies and similar tools, some essential, the cart cannot remember itself without them, and some analytical, telling us which pages get visited and which products get looked at, so we know what to make more of. Analytics reach us as patterns, not as a file about you personally.

When you write to us. Emails to info@foishome.com stay in our inbox as the record of what was promised and delivered, which protects you at least as much as it protects us.

What We Do With It

Fulfil and deliver your order. Contact you about that order, confirmations, despatch updates, the delivery crew calling to find your gate. Answer your questions and honour returns, repairs and warranty claims. Understand, in aggregate, which pieces people love, so the workshop carves more of them. And, only if you have opted in, send you occasional emails about new pieces from the bench.

Two things we do not do, stated flatly. We do not sell your information to anyone, ever. And we do not send marketing to people who did not ask for it, every marketing email carries an unsubscribe link that works with one click and using it changes nothing about your orders or support.

Who Sees Your Information

Getting furniture across India takes a small chain of partners, and each one sees only the slice they need:

• Shopify, the platform our store runs on, which hosts the site and stores order data on our behalf on its secure infrastructure. Shopify's servers may be located outside India, which means your order data may be stored abroad under Shopify's own security and privacy commitments, this is standard for Shopify stores worldwide and we mention it because you deserve to know where your data physically lives.
• Payment gateways, which handle the money and are bound by the Reserve Bank of India's regulations for payment data.
• Delivery and freight partners, who receive your name, address and phone number, and nothing else, because that is all a truck needs.
• No one else, unless the law requires it. If a court or government authority lawfully demands information, we comply with what the law obliges and nothing beyond it.

Your Rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act and frankly under basic decency, you can ask us at any time to:

• See what personal information we hold about you.
• Correct anything that is wrong, a misspelled name, an old address.
• Delete your personal information and we will erase what we are not legally required to keep, tax law obliges us to retain invoice records for the statutory period, but everything beyond that goes on request.
• Withdraw consent for marketing at any time, by the unsubscribe link or by emailing us.
• Raise a grievance about how your data was handled.

All of it goes through one address, info@foishome.com, with "Privacy" in the subject line, and we respond within a reasonable time, in practice within a few working days, because the person reading it sits at the workshop, not in a queue.

How Long We Keep Things

Order and invoice records stay as long as Indian tax and accounting law requires. Support correspondence stays while it remains useful for honouring what was discussed. Account data stays until you delete the account or ask us to. Marketing lists hold only people who opted in and shrink the moment anyone opts out.

Security

The store runs on Shopify's infrastructure with encrypted connections throughout, payments never pass through our hands, passwords are stored hashed and access to order information inside FOIS Home is limited to the people who need it to serve you. No system on earth is breach-proof and we will not pretend otherwise, but the honest summary is this: we hold little, we guard what we hold and the most sensitive things, your card and banking details, are never in our possession at all.

Children

Our store sells furniture and is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from children and if you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, email us and we will delete it.

Changes To This Policy

If how we handle data changes, this page changes, with the date at the top updated. Significant changes get flagged on the site rather than slipped in quietly. Continued use of the store after an update means the current version applies.
