Sheesham Daybed with Caned Ends and Upholstered Seat

Long enough to sleep on, backed like a sofa, which puts it in the room where the guest count keeps changing.

The seat is a single upholstered platform in plain cream, no divisions, running the full length of the frame. The back rest is separate, a padded panel curved at the top and finished with a line of brass nailhead trim along its outer edge.

Both ends are caned. Full panels of hand woven cane set into moulded frames, so the piece stays open at the sides and does not read as a solid box from across a room. Turned ball finials cap the corner posts, four of them and the front posts below are fluted and turned with collars.

The show wood frame is left exposed all the way round, arms, back rail and base, with the upholstery sitting inside it rather than wrapping over it.

Six turned legs, three a side. A frame this long needs the centre pair, whatever it does to the look.

Cane ends and a light fabric both dislike direct sun. Put it along a wall or facing a window, not in one.
